Top Gun 2 in the works

Located this Top Gun mash-up on the article from TechCrunch and it reminds me of how good that movie was and how much I love the theme. Will be interesting to see how well a sequel holds up. Tom Cruise will need a fairly major role to make the film work. Top Gun 2 cannot exist without Maverick.
On a side note, related to the film clip above, I have always considered the Top Gun theme to be the best of all themes as it contains all the elements of a movie within it. What I was thinking is putting clips of Top Gun to its theme as was done with the movie above. I am not sure how it would be done, but it is something that I would like to try. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for reading and have a great day! ~WJR~

The September Update

It is the end of September, just days away from my 31st birthday, and I am thinking of what I should do with this blog.  I have not been very active with it and that is mainly because I use Facebook and Twitter to convey everything as they are so easy to use.  They might as well be my blog.  This platform, Posterous, is mainly good for long-form and maybe for audio posts.  I am just not sure what I will do with it.  Over the next several month, I will think about it and make a final decision probably by the end of the year, likely between Christmas and New Year's.  And right now, I am leaning towards dropping it.  I won't delete it, just cease posting.  Or, perhaps I will use solely as my audio hosting provider.  Will see what happens.
If you have any suggestions or ideas, I am listening.  Add your comments and let me know what you think.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!

p.s. Happy Birthday, Jimmy Carter!

August Update

Hello there.  I know it has been awhile, actually over a month really, since my last posting, but here I am, typing away, spilling my guts to the world once again.  What shall I say in this posting?  I will tell you that I am still seeking employment, I have a girlfriend, and I am still living with my parents.  Two of those three items will hopefully change before this year is out.  You can guess which two. *wink, wink*

So, what else shall I mention?  How about that I saw The Expendables recently and I must say that I highly recommend it for anyone who, like me, enjoys action/adventure and very little romance in their films.  It was thoroughly entertaining and had the right amount of humor, especially the inside joke regarding Arnold.  You need to be a Californian to get it, in my humble opinion.

The other item on my mind is political in nature, as that is a subject that I fully enjoy and can rattle on about for a while, as anyone who knows me can tell you.  Politics is a blood sport, some would say, and I am ready for it.  Or am I?  Time will tell indeed.  So, the political item today that I am thinking of is Obama and the mosque issue.  Where to build a religious house of worship.  Should it be near where the twin towers once stood?  Is Obama anti-American?  I have nothing further to say on this topic, it bores me, and I will now move on to other, more important items of interest.

Such as...football!  Yes, the new NFL season is nearly upon us and, as always, I will be cheering on my Oakland Raiders with great delight.  They won the first pre-season game against Dallas and they will challenge the Bears next.  Go Raiders!!

That is all for this update, this random thought, this post.  Thank you for visiting and come back soon.

Sunday Fireworks

It was a wonderful Fourth of July and I had a great time, as always, shooting off the safe and sane fireworks that were purchased for oodles of dinero from local fireworks booths.  Hope everyone else had an equally great time and can't wait to do it again next year!

Have a great day!

What I experience...

The weather is weird. I experience it as I walk around the sites each week and this one being my last is no different. I don't like being a security officer and the weather is a part of the reason. Another part is that I don't see the end purpose of a job that any brain-dead moron can perform. I deserve better, much better! I am worth triple my current pay! I require a challenge! I am seeking a new role, one that better suits my personality and abilities. That is what I am and what I need. Just watch and learn. Will out.

The setting moon over Corral Hollow in Tracy

I took this picture while waiting for my shift at the Corral Hollow site to wind down. I think the Corral Hollow site is among the most dull and ridiculous of security gigs imaginable. I am doing the job that police are trained and hired for. It is stupid and I am very happy to be leaving. For my health and sanity, I leave this site behind as of the conclusion of this month. I have to be clear though: it is the site and the stupid hours that my anger is aimed, not the great and friendly people that I interact with during those awful hours. The people are fun to talk to and I expect to visit the tenants as a civ on many occasions. Good day and good luck.

May 5th

Tomorrow, the flags will be waving and the bands will be playing, all in celebration of a day in history which does not involve America.  The fifth of May is marked every year by legal and illegal alike and I don't like it.  Wave your Mexican flags somewhere else, please!

The following is from an email that I rec'd recently:

MOVING TO  MEXICO
Dear President Obama
I'm planning to move my family and extended family into
Mexico  for my health, and I would like to ask you to assist me.

We're planning to simply walk across the border from the U.S. Into Mexico, and we'll need your help to make a few arrangements.

We plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws.

I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here. So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Calderon, that I'm on my way over?

Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

1. Free medical care for my entire family.

2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.

3. Please print all Mexican government forms in English.

4. I want my grandkids to be taught Spanish by English-speaking (bi-lingual) teachers.

5. Tell their schools they need to include classes on American culture and history.

6. I want my grandkids to see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school.

7. Please plan to feed my grandkids at school for both breakfast and lunch.

8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.

9. I do plan to get a car and drive in  Mexico , but, I don't plan to purchase car insurance, and I probably won't make any special effort to learn local traffic laws.

10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from their president to leave me alone, please be sure that every patrol car has at least one English-speaking officer.

11 I plan to fly the U.S. Flag from my house top, put U S. Flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.

12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, or have any labor or tax laws enforced on any business I may start.

13. Please have the president tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice and never say critical things about me or my family, or about the strain we might place on their economy.

14. I want to receive free food stamps

15. Naturally, I'll expect free rent subsidies.

16. I'll need Income tax credits so although I don't pay Mexican Taxes, I'll receive money from the government.

17. Please arrange it so that the Mexican Gov't pays $4,500 to help me buy a new car.

18. Oh yes, I almost forgot, please enroll me free into the Mexican Social Security program so that I'll get a monthly income in retirement.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all his people who walk over to the U.S. From Mexico.  I am sure that President Calderon won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

Thank you so much for your kind help. You're the man!!!

This makes perfect sense!

Borders, Language, Culture

Found at the Warriors for Truth website:

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT.

If you don't agree with this for fear of offending someone....You are part of the problem!

Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice?

We celebrate Christmas....but because it isn't celebrated by everyone.....we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. We've gone so far and bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that we are now being offended.

This is an editorial written by an American citizen, published in a Florida Newspaper.
IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However... the dust from the attacks had
barely settled when the "politically correct!" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America.
Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.

This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity.
As Americans we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women....on Christian principles....founded this nation... and this is clearly documented.
It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home...because God is part of our culture.

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so! But once you are done complaining, whining and griping about our flag... our pledge... our national motto...or our way of life....I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other Great American Freedom......THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

It is Time for America to Speak up If you agree -- pass this along.
If you don't agree -- delete it - You are in the WRONG Country! AMEN
I suggest you forward this message to all your friends and family.  Let the world know that America will not go quietly into the night!

Gen. Jones tells a very funny joke!

Not the least bit offensive, this joke that the general tells. Jews
are known to be financially well-off and the Taliban is known to be
ignorant and crazy. This joke portrays the characters as they really
are and that is why they cry foul! Keep the jokes coming, General
Jones!

Try a new site

I have just used a new site that I heard Leo Laporte and Amber MacArthur talk about on their show, Net@Night.  The site is Hunch.com and it is a recommendation engine unlike any other out there.  I searched on Geocaching, a sport I would like to get more involved in, and up popped several questions that helped me refine what I was thinking about.  You don't need an account to use the site, but it helps to keep track of what you previously searched for and to better refine your results.  Hunch.com was created by Caterina Fake of Flickr.com fame.

It's actually quite fun and I highly recommend that you use it.

All the best!

I visited my doctor today to talk about my sleepiness and my burping. I am tired most of the time and that is due to stress and my darn work schedule. My burping, though, is natural (like I always suspected) and cannot be cured. Also, had to get more blood pulled outta my arm. Five various sized vials! Wow! It was weird seeing the blood fill the vials.

Vector Marketing Proposed Class Action

I received this curious letter yesterday and would like to make you all aware of it.

For a few months, over the course of a couple of years, I was involved in selling the highest-quality knives through the Vector Marketing Corporation.  The knives were of course Cutco, the same brand that you can see being given away to contestants on The Price is Right at least once a week.  I was unsure of their sales tactics and did offer some suggestions to the office management, but they would not listen to me cause I was just one of their lowly "Sales Representatives" and had no real power.  I have always wondered if I shouldn't have been paid for my travel expenses and the purchasing of the demonstration set and thus when this letter arrived, I got giddy and I hope that this class-action happens and that Vector is sued into oblivion!

If you or anyone you know was involved with Vector at any time in the past, please contact this law firm.  We need to kill Vector Marketing!

Again, let me be clear, I love my Cutco knives and have never had any complaints about the product, it is only the marketing arm of Alcor that this lawsuit is aimed at.  Eliminate Vector, and the world will be a safer place for all college students.

Take a look at this receipt

Last evening, while on-duty as a security officer, I visited the Nestle Cafe, purchased two chocolate chip cookies (very warm and delicious) and a hot chocolate (with whipped cream) and the total for those three items was $6.66!  I made a joke of it and the cashier laughed with me.  The proprietor, Dan, was nearby and suggested I buy a third cookie.  I did not as this number doesn't faze me.  Why should it?  It is just another number after all.

This was the most interesting thing to occur to me yet as I work this eight-hour shift every Friday.  Alright, I have had the two fights recently, but those aren't interesting, just another problem to be solved rather.  This number popping up out of the blue like this is interesting.  I gave it no heed the remainder of my shift and nothing bad happened, therefore the number has no bearing on life in general.  Just my thought on this interesting item.

Now, go have a great day!

Why the hatred towards Ron Paul?

I noticed this just earlier today, a stripe through Ron Paul's name. This makes me mad, as a libel towards Dr. Paul and vandalism to my personal property. I wish I knew the creep who committed this heinous act so I could help them understand the result of their actions. Dr. Paul is a true patriot and should be honored, not hated. Long live freedom!

The Oscar Noms

Early this morning, the Oscar nominations were announced by Anne Hathaway and some dude.  I was stunned and shocked by the ten (10!) noms in the Best Picture category.  That is way too many and we all know that Avatar will take the statue.  Not because it's worthy of the prize, but rather that James Cameron will defeat his ex.  Yes, that's right, this is a battle between ex's.  James Cameron vs. Kathryn Bigelow.  Once married, now challengers on the field of cinematography.  I sense that Kate will receive two or three statues, but Jim will collect all the rest.  This is the story for the show and it will be mentioned more than once by the entertainment media, even on Oscar night. The host may even make a joke or two about Jim and Kate in the opening.  Just wait and see.
Btw, thank you to Sarah Lane for pointing out this challenge two days ago on Twitter.
